Pine Cone Fire Starters with Base

These pine cone fire starters are a wonderful addition to any house. Keep them in a basket next to your fire place and you can enjoy their sweet smell. Ideal for inn keepers, because your guests can enjoy their fire anytime. No smoke, no paper handling, just place it in pit and light the wick. 

You will need:

• pine cones
• candle wax
• candle coloring (optional)
• essential oil (optional)
• muffin pan
  (do not use for food after wards)
• small metal coffee can
• large pot (large enough to hold the coffee can)
• candle wick or 1 small cake candles

Instruction:

Wax must be melted in a double boiler to reduce fire risk!

Place the coffee can in a pot of water on the stove. Add small pieces of wax to the coffee can and melt on low to medium heat until you have enough to fill muffin pan.  Add color and essential oil.

Fill muffin pan with wax, add candle wick by having it stick out on the side.  Add cone on top of is and let wax harden.

Place the cone on top of kindling and light the wick. 
Do not use in gas fireplaces.
